Open an account's details in the BitBoxApp to find its technical information or use its public account data in compatible wallet software. For Bitcoin, check the displayed address format as well as the account: Native SegWit and Taproot use different export information.

This guide explains how to find the screen, select a Bitcoin format and verify an available extended public key on your BitBox. For the meaning of the individual fields, see What account details mean in the BitBoxApp.

Before you begin

Open an up-to-date BitBoxApp with the wallet you want to check. If that wallet is not available through Remember wallet, connect and unlock the BitBox containing it. A remembered wallet lets you view account details without the hardware connected; device verification still requires the BitBox to be connected and unlocked.

Open account details

  1. In the left sidebar, select the account whose details you need. The BitBoxApp opens that account's balance and transaction history.

  1. Click Account info at the top of the account view. The Account information screen opens.

  1. Select View account details. The account details screen opens. Check that Account name matches the account you selected. For Bitcoin, also check Script type to identify the address format currently displayed.

You are now viewing the selected account's details. The fields available depend on the cryptocurrency and, for Bitcoin, the displayed address format.

Select the Bitcoin format you need

If the account offers more than one format, use the control near the top of its details to switch between them. Click View Taproot to display the Taproot configuration; Script type then shows Taproot (P2TR), and the descriptor changes. Click View Native Segwit to return to Native SegWit (P2WPKH). Check the displayed format rather than assuming which one opens first.

Taproot account details with a descriptor and its QR code, plus View Native Segwit to switch back; no separate extended-public-key field or verification button is shown.

Before copying account information into another wallet, make sure both the account and format are the ones you intend to import. Use the complete Descriptor when the receiving software supports it. Use the separate Extended public key only when the software requests it and supports that format. Taproot details provide a descriptor without a separate extended-public-key field.

Keep public account data private

Extended public keys, public descriptors and their QR codes can reveal addresses, balances and transaction activity for the related account and format. Copy or scan them only into software or services you trust. These public exports do not give spending access and do not replace your wallet backup.

The BitBoxApp hides Wrapped SegWit details, so that format is not offered here. This does not remove activity from an existing Wrapped SegWit account. For help accessing an older Wrapped SegWit account with compatible third-party wallet software, contact BitBox Support rather than substituting another format's export data.

Verify an extended public key on your BitBox

For a Bitcoin format that displays a separate extended public key, you can compare that key with the value on your BitBox's trusted screen. This checks the extended public key, not the complete descriptor or every account field. Taproot details do not offer this verification button.

  1. Connect and unlock the BitBox containing the wallet you are checking. In the BitBoxApp, open the intended account's details and select the required format as described above.
  2. Find Verify on device below the account data, scrolling down if needed, and select it. The BitBox displays the extended public key for comparison.
  3. Compare the entire extended public key on the BitBox with the Extended public key shown in the app. Follow the prompts on the BitBox and confirm there only if all characters match. If they do not match, cancel the comparison and do not use that export to set up another wallet.

A complete match confirms that the app's extended public key agrees with the value displayed by your BitBox. If there is a discrepancy, recheck the wallet, account and format. If it remains, stop and contact BitBox Support, describing the app version and the stage where the mismatch occurs. Never share recovery words, private keys, passwords or other wallet secrets.
