This guide shows you how to install the BitBoxBridge, a background application required for connecting your BitBox02 to third-party web wallets.

Step 1: Download the BitBoxBridge

First, you need to download the correct installer for your operating system. You can find the latest version of the BitBoxBridge on our official downloads page.

Step 2: Install the BitBoxBridge

Once the download is complete, run the installer:

Windows

  • Download the installer file: BitBoxBridge-Win64-installer.exe
  • Double-click the downloaded .exe file and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

macOS

Linux

Download the package that matches your distribution and use your package manager to install it.

After the installation is finished, the BitBoxBridge will start automatically and run in the background each time you turn on your computer.

Step 3: Verify the installation

You can easily check if the BitBoxBridge is running correctly.

  1. Open your web browser.
  2. Navigate to the local address: http://127.0.0.1:8178
    1. or localhost: http://localhost:8178
  3. You should see a plain text page with the message: BitBoxBridge is running.

If this page loads, the Bridge is working. If the page does not load, please try restarting your computer.

With the BitBoxBridge running, you are ready to connect your BitBox02 to a supported web wallet.

Please remember to close the BitBoxApp before you connect to a third-party wallet. The BitBox02 can only connect to one application at a time, and having the BitBoxApp open will prevent other wallets from detecting it.
