This guide shows you how to install the BitBoxBridge, a small background application required for connecting your BitBox02 hardware wallet to supported third-party web wallets.
Step 1: Download the installer
First, download the correct BitBoxBridge installer for your computer's operating system.
- Official Downloads Page: You can find the latest version for Windows, macOS, and Linux on our official website.
- Advanced Users: The installer and source code are also available on our official GitHub repository.
Step 2: Run the installer
Once the download is complete, locate the file and follow the instructions for your operating system.
Windows
Double-click the downloaded .exe
file (e.g., ~BitBoxBridge-Win64-installer.exe~) and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
macOS
Open the downloaded .pkg

Linux
Use your distribution's package manager to install the downloaded package.
- Ubuntu / Debian: bitbox-bridge_amd64.deb
- Fedora / CentOS: bitbox-bridge-1.x86_64.rpm
After installation, the BitBoxBridge will start automatically and run in the background each time you start your computer.
Step 3: Verify the installation
You can easily check if the BitBoxBridge is running correctly.
- Open your web browser.
- In the address bar, type ~http://127.0.0.1:8178~ and press Enter. You can also use ~http://localhost:8178~.
- A page should load with the message: "BitBoxBridge is running".
If you see this message, the installation was successful. If the page does not load, try restarting your computer.

With the BitBoxBridge running, you are ready to connect your BitBox02 to a supported web wallet.
Important: Remember to close the BitBoxApp before connecting to a web wallet. The BitBox02 can only connect to one application at a time
