Important limitation: sellable amount

Pocket Bitcoin can only process sales up to the total amount you previously bought through Pocket Bitcoin.

Example:

  • You bought 1 BTC via Pocket Bitcoin.
  • You bought 1 BTC via another exchange.
  • Your wallet balance is 2 BTC.

In this example, you can only sell up to 1 BTC via Pocket Bitcoin.

Sell limit clarification
The bitcoin does not need to come from the same address or UTXO originally used when buying through Pocket Bitcoin. Only the total amount previously purchased through Pocket Bitcoin matters.

Verifying the sale on the BitBox02

Pocket Bitcoin uses signed payment requests so your BitBox02 can verify the payout details before you confirm the transaction. Learn more about secure exchange withdrawals using signed payment requests.

This verification helps protect against transaction manipulation by showing the important sale details directly on your BitBox02.

On your BitBox02, verify:

  • the recipient shown as POCKET,
  • the bitcoin amount,
  • your IBAN,
  • and the transaction fees.

Security verification
Only confirm the sale if the bitcoin amount, recipient shown as “POCKET”, IBAN, and fees are correct on your BitBox02.

On your BitBox02, verify each screen carefully before confirming.

Settlement and payout

After you confirm the transaction on your BitBox02:

  • the bitcoin transaction is broadcast to the Bitcoin network,
  • Pocket Bitcoin waits for three confirmations,
  • then Pocket Bitcoin initiates the bank transfer.

If your bank supports SEPA Instant payments, the payout may arrive within approximately 30 minutes after the required confirmations.

Sale submitted
After the transaction is confirmed on the Bitcoin network, Pocket Bitcoin initiates the bank transfer to your selected bank account.
