This guide explains how to use your BitBox02 with MyEtherWallet (MEW) to manage assets on various EVM-compatible blockchains and how to recover funds if you send them to the wrong network.
The BitBox02 Multi edition is not just for Ethereum. You can use it to secure assets on many other networks that are compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), such as Polygon, Binance Smart Chain (BSC), Avalanche, and more.
Before you begin
- Ensure you have already successfully connected your BitBox02 to MEW by following our primary guide: How to use your BitBox02 with MyEtherWallet (MEW)
- Be aware that transacting on any network requires a small amount of that network's native token to pay for transaction fees (gas). For example, you need MATIC for transactions on Polygon.
How to switch networks in MyEtherWallet
By default, MEW will connect to the Ethereum network. To manage assets on another chain, you must switch to it first.
- In the top right of the MEW dashboard, you will see a button showing the current network (e.g., Ethereum). Click on it.

- A window will open with a list of available networks.

- You can scroll or use the search bar to find the network you want to use (e.g., BNB).
- Select the desired network. The MEW interface will now refresh and show your balances for that specific chain.
If anything remains unclear, please first refer to MEW’s guide: Change Networks on MEW Portfolio
Your wallet address remains the same across all EVM chains.
How to recover funds sent to the wrong EVM network
A common mistake is sending assets on one network to your address on another (for example, sending Polygon (MATIC) via the BSC network instead of the Polygon network). Because the address is the same, the funds are not lost, but you need to switch to the correct network to access them.
- Identify the correct network: Check the transaction details on a block explorer (like Etherscan, Polygonscan, etc.) to confirm which network the funds were actually sent on.
- Connect to MEW: Connect your BitBox02 to MyEtherWallet as usual.
- Switch to the correct network: Follow the steps in the section above to switch MEW to the network where your funds were mistakenly sent.
- Access your funds: Once you are on the correct network, MEW will display your token balance. You can now send the funds back to the exchange or use a cross-chain bridge to move them to the intended network.

Security Reminder: Always double-check that you have selected the correct network in your exchange or sending wallet before you confirm a transaction. For more details on the BitBox02 integration, see our announcement blog post.
