Prerequisites

On your exchange

The exact process varies slightly from exchange to exchange. We will try to describe it as generally as possible.

  • Look for the option to make a withdrawal or transfer.
  • You will then need to enter the amount and the address to which the coins should be sent.
  • Now, you need a receiving address from your BitBox. See: Receiving transactions on the BitBox02
  • Copy the address displayed in the BitBoxApp to the exchange from which you want to withdraw.
  • Compare the address on the exchange with the address displayed on your BitBox02. It’s sufficient to compare the first and last 5 digits. Cancel the process if the addresses do not match.
  • If everything is correct, confirm on the exchange that you want to make this withdrawal/transfer.
  • You may need to confirm this with a password, code, or email, depending on the exchange.
  • Depending on the exchange, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to several hours or business days for your withdrawal/transfer to be processed. If it takes longer on your exchange, you don’t need to wait. You can simply unplug your BitBox02.
  • Once the transaction has been sent, you will be given a transaction ID and usually a link to a blockchain explorer. At this point, the BitBoxApp will notify you of an incoming transaction.
  • Depending on the transaction fee, it may take varying amounts of time for the transaction to be confirmed on the blockchain. Until the transaction has 6 confirmations, the BitBoxApp will display it as “pending.” More info here.
  • That’s it!
