Who handles each part of the purchase?
Shift Crypto provides the BitBox hardware wallet and the BitBoxApp. Shift Crypto does not perform identity verification (KYC), process bank transfers, or exchange fiat currency for Bitcoin.

Pocket Bitcoin is an independent service integrated into the BitBoxApp. It provides the regulated Bitcoin purchase service, including identity verification (KYC), fiat-to-Bitcoin exchange, bank transfer processing, payment allocation, and Bitcoin payouts.

Your BitBox protects your Bitcoin private keys throughout the purchase, while Pocket Bitcoin handles the regulated purchase process.

Account privacy
Sharing the entire account lets Pocket Bitcoin derive new receiving addresses and see past and future transactions associated with that Bitcoin account. Sharing a single address limits Pocket Bitcoin to using only the authorized receiving address for future payouts.

8. Make the bank transfer

After address sharing, Pocket Bitcoin immediately displays the bank transfer details for your purchase.

  1. Review the beneficiary, IBAN, bank name, amount, and payment reference shown on the Make bank transfer screen.
  2. Optionally scan the QR code to import the payment details into your banking app.

  2. Make the transfer using the displayed payment details and exact payment reference.
  3. Return to the BitBoxApp and click Done.

What happens after the bank transfer?

Once Pocket Bitcoin receives and assigns your bank transfer, you receive a confirmation email with the purchased Bitcoin amount, exchange rate, payout details, and estimated payout time.

Bank transfer processing time depends on your bank and when you submit the transfer. Pocket Bitcoin sends Bitcoin payouts in batches, and the transaction then requires Bitcoin network confirmation.
