  2. Click Continue.

06 Sharing a Bitcoin address (device authorization)

At this stage, you authorize PocketBTC to receive a Bitcoin address from your wallet.

Important distinction

This step is an address sharing, not an address verification.

  • The final verification of the address will take place later via email.
  • During address sharing, only the display on the BitBox02 is security‑relevant.
  • Therefore, the address is not shown simultaneously in the BitBoxApp.
  • This behavior is normal and intentional.

What happens on your BitBox02

  1. The BitBoxApp prompts you to interact with your BitBox02.
  2. On your BitBox02:
    1. Confirm the coin Bitcoin.
    2. A Bitcoin address (usually starting with bc1…) is displayed.
    3. Scroll through the entire address on the device.
    4. Confirm the address on the BitBox02.
    5. A Sign Message prompt appears.
    6. Confirm that this Bitcoin address belongs to you (including your order number).
    7. Sign this message by confirming both touch surfaces on the BitBox02.

After this, the address has been securely shared with PocketBTC.

07 Choosing how the address is shared

You now choose how PocketBTC may access addresses from your wallet.

Share entire account (recommended)

  • PocketBTC can derive new receiving addresses for future purchases.
  • This improves privacy by avoiding address reuse.

Share single address

  • Only the currently verified address is used.

Continue the process

  1. Select your preferred option
  2. Click Share now

If you choose to share the entire account, confirm the notice explaining that past and future transactions of this account become visible to PocketBTC.

  1. Click Continue.

08 Final address verification (email)

This is the final security check confirming address ownership.

  1. The BitBoxApp shows Confirmation email sent.
  1. Check your inbox for an email from PocketBTC titled “Verify bitcoin address”.
  2. Open the email and click the verification link Verify bitcoin address.
  1. A browser page asks: “What does your BitBox02 show?”
  1. Compare:
    1. The address shown in your browser
    2. The address shown on your BitBox02
  2. If both addresses match, confirm on your BitBox02.

09 Reviewing your order

  1. Return to the BitBoxApp.
  2. Confirm that the address verification was successful.
  1. Review your order details:
    1. Amount
    2. Receiving address
    3. PocketBTC terms
  2. (Optional) Enter a referral code.
  3. Accept the terms and click Confirm.

10 Making the bank transfer

  1. The Make bank transfer screen opens.
  2. Review PocketBTC’s bank details:
    1. Beneficiary
    2. IBAN
    3. Bank name
  3. (Optional) Use the QR code to import details into your banking app.

CRITICAL:

  • You must include the payment reference exactly as shown.
  • Without it, your payment cannot be assigned to your order.

  1. Click Done in the BitBoxApp.
  2. Log in to your bank and initiate the transfer using the provided details.

11 After the transfer: What to expect

  • Processing time:
Bank transfers may take time, depending on your bank and whether it is a business day.
  • Confirmation email:
Once PocketBTC receives your funds, you will receive an email confirming:
    • The BTC amount purchased
    • The conversion rate and date
    • The estimated payout time
  • Payout:
    PocketBTC processes payouts in batches.
Bitcoin is sent after payout execution and network confirmations.

You have now successfully bought Bitcoin with PocketBTC using the BitBoxApp and BitBox02.

FAQ

Why do I need to confirm the Bitcoin address twice, and why isn’t it shown side by side at first?

This is intentional and improves security.

  • First confirmation (address sharing):
You authorize PocketBTC to receive a Bitcoin address from your wallet. The address is first shown and confirmed on the BitBox02. After confirmation, it appears in the BitBoxApp. There is no side-by-side comparison at this stage.
  • Second confirmation (address verification):
Later, you verify the final payout address via email by comparing what is shown in your browser at the same time as what is shown on your BitBox02.

These are two distinct steps with different purposes and should not be confused.

What happens if I forget or enter the wrong payment reference in my bank transfer?

The payment reference is required to assign your bank transfer to your PocketBTC order.

  • If the reference is missing or incorrect, PocketBTC cannot automatically match your payment.
  • This may delay processing and require manual clarification.

Always copy the payment reference exactly as shown in the BitBoxApp.

When will the Bitcoin arrive in my wallet after I send the bank transfer?

After you send the bank transfer:

  1. PocketBTC waits until the funds are received.
  2. You receive a confirmation email with purchase details.
  3. Bitcoin payouts are processed in batches.
  4. Once sent, the transaction must receive Bitcoin network confirmations.

The total time depends on your bank’s processing time and the payout schedule.
