Before installing or updating the BitBoxApp on Android:
- Review which devices and operating systems are supported before installing or updating the BitBoxApp.
- Update Android to the latest version available for your device.
- Download the BitBoxApp only from official BitBox sources.
- The BitBox02 does not need to be connected during installation or updates.
- You do not need your microSD backup or recovery words to install or update the BitBoxApp.

The BitBoxApp will never ask for your recovery words during installation or updates. If any app, website, or message asks you to enter your recovery words, stop immediately and contact BitBox support.
Install or update the BitBoxApp using Google Play
Google Play is the recommended way to install and update the BitBoxApp on Android.
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for BitBoxApp.
- Install the BitBoxApp published by Shift Crypto AG.
- If the BitBoxApp is already installed, tap Update when an update is available.
- Open the BitBoxApp.
After opening the BitBoxApp, connect and unlock your BitBox02 if you want to access your wallet accounts.

Install only the BitBoxApp published by Shift Crypto AG. Installing apps from unofficial sources may expose your device to security risks.

Update BitBox02 firmware after updating the BitBoxApp
BitBoxApp updates and BitBox02 firmware updates are separate processes.
