This guide shows you how to send Ethereum (ETH) and ERC-20 tokens using your BitBox02 with MyEtherWallet (MEW).
Every transaction is verified directly on your BitBox02, ensuring your funds remain secure—even if your computer is compromised.
You can use this process across different EVM networks.
The steps remain the same, but fees are paid in the native coin of the selected network.
Before you begin
Make sure:
- Your BitBox02 is connected to MEW
- Your wallet dashboard is visible
If not, follow this guide first:
→ MyEtherWallet (MEW): How to connect your BitBox02
How to send ETH and ERC-20 tokens
Follow these steps to securely send a transaction:
1. Open the send screen
- In the MEW dashboard, click Send in the left-hand menu

2. Select the asset
- Choose the asset you want to send:
- ETH
- or an ERC-20 token

3. Enter transaction details
- Paste the recipient address
- Enter the amount
Carefully review both inputs before continuing.

Transactions cannot be reversed.
- Always double-check the recipient address before proceeding.
- Make sure the selected network matches the network of the recipient address.
4. Choose the transaction fee (gas)
The confirmation speed depends on the selected fee.

Select a gas fee option:
- Low (slower)
- Medium (recommended)
- High (faster)

You must have enough ETH in your wallet to pay for the transaction fee.
5. Review and proceed
- Click Next to continue
- With this, the transaction confirmation window should open and you will see all the transaction details summarized.

6. Verify the transaction on your BitBox02
Your BitBox02 will display:
- Recipient address
- Amount
- Network fee
Carefully review every detail on the device.

Only trust what is shown on your BitBox02 display.
If anything looks incorrect, reject the transaction immediately.
7. Confirm the transaction
- If everything is correct:
- Confirm on your BitBox02
- If not:
- Reject the transaction
8. Transaction broadcast
After confirmation:
- MEW broadcasts the transaction to the network
- You will see it as pending until confirmed
You have successfully sent ETH or tokens using your BitBox02 with MyEtherWallet.
Your transaction is now being processed by the network.
Important notes
- You need ETH (or the native coin of the network) to pay transaction fees
- Transactions are final once confirmed
- Always verify details on your BitBox02
FAQ
Do I always need ETH to send tokens?
It depends on the network you’re using:
- If you send on the Ethereum network (ERC-20 tokens), you need ETH to pay for gas fees.
- If you use another EVM-compatible network, fees are paid in that network’s native coin (e.g., BNB on BNB Smart Chain, MATIC on Polygon).
Why is my transaction pending?
Confirmation time depends on both the selected gas fee and current network congestion.
Higher fees generally lead to faster confirmations, while lower fees may result in delays—especially during periods of high network activity when many transactions compete to be included in a block.
Why do I need to confirm on the BitBox02?
The BitBox02 ensures that:
- The transaction has not been altered by malware
- You approve the exact details before signing
Can I cancel a transaction?
In most cases, no.
Once a transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, it cannot be canceled.
However, if your transaction is still pending, you may be able to replace it with a new one using a higher fee. You find more details in MyEtherWallet help center: Cancel or replace a transaction
