BitBox02 offers advanced settings for users requiring customization in their wallet setup. Specifically, during the creation of a new wallet, users can opt for a 12-word seed instead of the standard 24-word configuration. This option enhances usability while maintaining a secure entropy level suitable for cryptographic protection.

How to create a 12-word seed wallet:

  1. Connect the BitBox02 to a compatible device and launch the BitBoxApp.
  2. Navigate to "Advanced backup options" and choose the 12-word seed configuration.
  3. Select "Create Wallet"
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

What if the 12-word seed option is not visible?

  • Confirm that you are at the initial stage of wallet creation, as this selection is only available prior to seed generation.
  • If a wallet has already been established, a factory reset is required to access the 12-word seed option again.

Skipping the microSD backup:

Users can also choose whether to skip the microSD backup step. If this option is selected, it is essential to manually record and verify the recovery words on the device before finalizing the setup. Ensuring accurate documentation of the seed phrase is critical for future wallet recovery.
