Securely manage Ethereum with MyEtherWallet and BitBox02

The BitBox02 hardware wallet provides top-tier security for your Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens. By integrating it with MyEtherWallet (MEW), you can confidently manage your assets while keeping your private keys offline and protected.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • A BitBox02 Multi edition hardware wallet.
  • The BitBox02 set up via the BitBoxApp.
  • BitBoxBridge installed (required for browsers other than Chrome, Edge, or Brave).
  • If using Brave Browser, deactivate the “shield”.

Step-by-step guide

1. Set up your BitBox02

  1. If your BitBox02 is new, download and install the BitBoxApp for your operating system. Follow the in-app instructions to initialize your device, set a secure password, and create a wallet backup using the included microSD card.

2. Install BitBoxBridge (if necessary)

  1. For browsers like Firefox or Safari, download and install BitBoxBridge to enable communication between your BitBox02 and MyEtherWallet. This lightweight application runs in the background and ensures secure interactions with trusted domains like myetherwallet.com.

3. Connect BitBox02 to MyEtherWallet

  1. Navigate to myetherwallet.com.
  2. Click on Access My Wallet.
    1. If you are getting an error, please make sure the BitBoxApp is closed and try again.
  3. Select Hardware and then choose BitBox02.
  4. Unlock your BitBox02 by entering your device password.
  5. When prompted, verify that the pairing code displayed on MyEtherWallet matches the one on your BitBox02. Confirm the pairing on your device.
    1. Note: You will be prompted with a pairing code whenever you use the BitBox02 with a new browser or computer.
  6. Choose the Ethereum account/address you wish to use.
    1. When selecting the account/address, the first account is identical to the one used by the BitBoxApp
  7. Accept the terms and click Access My Wallet

You’re now ready to send, receive, and interact with Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens securely using your BitBox02.
