To receive ETH or tokens through MyEtherWallet (MEW), agree with the sender on the asset and network, then verify the complete receiving address on your BitBox02 before sharing it. These steps use a BitBox02 Multi already connected to MEW's legacy web interface.
An Ethereum-style address does not identify a network. The same account address can be used on several EVM networks, but each network has separate balances. Receiving on one network does not make the asset available on another.
Before you receive
- Open the intended account in MEW. If you have not reached its dashboard, follow Connect your BitBox02 to MyEtherWallet (MEW).
- Confirm the exact asset and network with the sender. For a token, its name or symbol alone may be ambiguous; confirm the token's contract on the intended network when necessary.
- Select that network in MEW. If you need to change it, follow Switch EVM networks in MyEtherWallet with your BitBox02. If it is unavailable, resolve access before requesting the transfer.
You do not need a native-coin balance merely to receive an ordinary transfer. The sender pays the sending transaction's network fee. To send the received asset later, you will need the appropriate native fee asset in this account on the same network.
Verify and share your receiving address
Keep the BitBox02 connected and unlocked while verifying the address. The browser and device have separate controls; a copied address or QR code alone does not establish that it belongs to your wallet.
Check the final destination before submission
Address verification checks a particular address; copying or pasting can still change the destination afterward. Stop if the final destination differs from the address on your BitBox02 or if the selected network is not the one agreed with the sender.
- Find the account card. On the MEW dashboard, locate the card showing your account name, shortened address, and balance, usually toward the upper left. Check that this is the account you intend to receive into.
- Open the address-verification option. Select the downward arrow beside the account name above the shortened address. In the menu, select View address on BitBox02. MEW opens a verification window with the full ACCOUNT ADDRESS, and the BitBox02 displays the receiving address.

- Compare the complete address. Read every character shown in MEW and compare it with the address on your BitBox02, following the device prompts to view the full value. Compare the complete address, not just its beginning and end. If the addresses match, confirm the address on the device; the verification window closes. If they differ or the device does not display an address, stop before sharing or using it.

- Copy the verified address. Back on the account card, use the copy icon, represented by overlapping sheets, to copy the address. The card also has a QR-code control if the sender will scan it. Use the account's receiving address, not a token's contract address.
- Check the destination after copying or scanning. If you are preparing a withdrawal in another wallet or exchange, paste or scan the address into its recipient field and check the full resulting destination against your device-verified address. If necessary, reopen View address on BitBox02 to compare the final destination with the device again. If another person is sending, provide the verified address together with the exact asset and network, and ask them to confirm these before submitting.
- Have the sender review and submit the transfer. The sender must select the agreed asset and network and confirm the final destination. Where fees and minimum amounts allow, first verify a small transfer before sending a larger amount. Do not request another payment solely because a balance has not appeared yet.
- Obtain the transaction record. Ask the sender for the transaction ID, also called a transaction hash, and the network used. If an exchange withdrawal is still processing and has no transaction ID, it may not yet have been submitted to the blockchain.
Check that the transfer arrived
Use the transaction record to check the transfer on the actual network's block explorer. Receipt is established when the transfer succeeds on that network and the intended asset reaches your verified address. A pending transfer is still waiting; a failed transaction has not completed the intended transfer.
In MEW, check the same network and address for the updated balance. A token can be received on the blockchain without appearing automatically in the token list. If the transfer or balance is missing, follow Find funds sent on another EVM network with MyEtherWallet and your BitBox02 before requesting a repeat payment.
Once you have verified and shared the address, the BitBox02 can be disconnected while the transfer arrives. The address can receive further transfers without the device being connected. Reusing an Ethereum account address is possible, but activity at that public address can be linked; changing the selected network does not create a new private receiving identity.
Receiving never requires you to give the sender, MEW, or Support your recovery words, device password, optional passphrase, private keys, or wallet backup. If address verification fails, contact BitBox Support with the failed step and non-sensitive error text.
