If you no longer need to connect your BitBox02 to web wallets, you can remove BitBoxBridge from your computer. This guide shows you how to uninstall BitBoxBridge on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Uninstalling BitBoxBridge does not remove your BitBoxApp, your BitBox02 wallet, or your funds. BitBoxBridge is only a background application that helps browsers communicate with your BitBox02 when using supported web wallets.

Before you start
Make sure that:
- Your BitBox02 is disconnected from your computer.
- Any browser window using a web wallet is closed.
- You have administrator access to your computer.
Uninstall on Windows
- Open the Start menu.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps.
- Open Installed apps or Apps & features, depending on your Windows version.
- Search for BitBoxBridge.
- Select BitBoxBridge.
- Click Uninstall.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the removal.
Uninstall on macOS
On macOS, BitBoxBridge is removed manually by deleting the background service file or the BitBoxBridge folder.
Remove the background service file
- Open Finder.
- In the menu bar, click Go > Go to Folder....

/Library/LaunchDaemons/ - Click Go.

- Find the file named
ch.shiftcrypto.bitboxbridge.plist

- Move the file to the Trash.
- Enter your Mac password if prompted.
Remove the BitBoxBridge folder
- In the Finder menu bar, click Go > Go to Folder... again.

/opt/shiftcrypto/. - Click Go.

Move the entire
bitbox-bridgefolder to the Trash.

- Restart your Mac.
After restarting your Mac, BitBoxBridge is fully removed from your system.
Uninstall on Linux
Open a terminal and use the command that matches your Linux distribution.
Debian and Ubuntu
sudo apt-get remove bitbox-bridgeFedora

After the command has completed, BitBoxBridge is removed from your Linux system.

Does uninstalling BitBoxBridge remove my wallet?
No. BitBoxBridge does not store your wallet, recovery words, private keys, or funds. Your wallet remains secured by your BitBox02 and your backup.
Does uninstalling BitBoxBridge remove the BitBoxApp?
No. BitBoxBridge and the BitBoxApp are separate applications. Removing BitBoxBridge does not remove the BitBoxApp.
Do I need BitBoxBridge to use the BitBoxApp?
No. BitBoxBridge is not required for the BitBoxApp. It is mainly used when connecting your BitBox02 to supported web wallets through your browser.
