Buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other supported ERC-20 tokens with BTC Direct in the BitBoxApp and receive the purchased cryptocurrency directly in the account you select before opening the BTC Direct widget.

The purchase flow includes the order details, a BTC Direct account, email confirmation, identity verification when required, and payment through the selected payment method. Your BitBox protects your private keys throughout the purchase.

Before you begin

• Update the BitBoxApp to the latest version.
• Make sure your BitBox02 is fully set up, connected, and unlocked.
• If the BitBoxApp offers a firmware update, update the BitBox02 firmware before continuing.
• Have access to the email address, personal details, identity document, and payment method you want to use with BTC Direct.

1. Open BTC Direct in the BitBoxApp

1. Open the BitBoxApp.
2. Connect and unlock your BitBox02.
3. Select Marketplace in the sidebar.
4. Select the Buy tab.
5. Choose your region.
6. Select the BitBoxApp account where you want to receive the purchased cryptocurrency.
7. Select BTC Direct if it is available for your selected region.

8. Review the BTC Direct information window.
9. Click Agree and continue to open the BTC Direct widget.

2. Set up your BTC Direct order

The BTC Direct widget opens inside the BitBoxApp. You can choose a one-time order or a recurring order if recurring orders are available for your selected cryptocurrency, account, and region.

1. Choose One time or Recurring.
2. Enter the amount you want to spend. The minimum amount shown in the BTC Direct widget is EUR 30.00.
3. Open Select payment method.
4. Choose the payment method you want to use.

5. Review the estimated cryptocurrency amount and the total amount.

6. Expand Show fees to review the payment method fee, network fee, and processing fee.
7. Click Continue.

3. Create or sign in to a BTC Direct account

A BTC Direct account is required before you can complete a purchase. If you already have a BTC Direct account, choose Sign in. If this is your first time, choose Create new account.

1. Click Create new account if you do not already have a BTC Direct account.
2. Select Personal or Business.
3. Enter the requested details, including your first name, last name, email address, nationality, and password.
4. Review and accept the BTC Direct terms and conditions and privacy policy.
5. Click Create account.

After creating your account, BTC Direct sends a confirmation email indicating that your registration was successful. You can then continue with the email verification step.

4. Verify your email address

1. Check the inbox for the email address you entered.
2. Copy the six-digit verification code from the BTC Direct email.
3. Enter the code in the BTC Direct widget.
4. Click Confirm email address.

If the verification email does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder or request a new code in the BTC Direct widget.

5. Complete your BTC Direct account

After confirming your email address, BTC Direct asks for additional account information.

1. Enter your residential address, including street name, house number, postal code, and city.
2. Click Continue.

6. Complete BTC Direct identity verification

BTC Direct may require identity verification before you can trade. This KYC process is performed by BTC Direct and its verification provider, not by BitBox.

1. Click Continue on the Verification for BTC Direct screen.

2. Follow the BTC Direct verification flow and provide the requested identity information.
3. Wait while BTC Direct checks your ID.

When verification is successful, BTC Direct shows a confirmation screen. Click Trade now to return to the purchase flow.

7. Confirm the order

After the BTC Direct account is ready, return to the purchase screen and review the order again.

1. Check the cryptocurrency amount, fiat amount, payment method, and fees.
2. Make sure the order details match what you want to buy.
3. Click Confirm order.

8. Complete the payment

After you confirm the order, BTC Direct opens the payment step for the payment method you selected.

1. Review the payment summary and the receiving address shown by BTC Direct.
2. Continue with the selected payment method before the order expires.
3. Complete the payment through the payment provider or banking flow.

After your payment is confirmed, BTC Direct sends an order confirmation email containing your order ID, order date, purchased cryptocurrency, blockchain, payment amount, and the destination address where your cryptocurrency will be sent.

What happens after payment?

Once BTC Direct receives and processes the payment, BTC Direct sends the purchased cryptocurrency to the receiving address of the account you selected in the BitBoxApp Marketplace.

The purchased cryptocurrency appears in the BitBoxApp after BTC Direct broadcasts the transaction and the corresponding blockchain network confirms it. Processing time can depend on the selected payment method, BTC Direct processing, and network activity.

The purchased cryptocurrency is sent to the receiving address of the account you selected before opening BTC Direct in the BitBoxApp Marketplace.

Can I close the BitBoxApp after completing the purchase?

Yes. Once the purchase has been submitted to BTC Direct, the remainder of the purchase is handled by BTC Direct. The BitBoxApp does not need to remain open.
