Buy cryptocurrency with BTC Direct in the BitBoxApp and receive it directly in your selected wallet account. The BitBoxApp opens the BTC Direct purchase flow with the cryptocurrency and receiving address for that account already selected.
BTC Direct handles account registration, identity verification, payment processing and cryptocurrency payout. Your BitBox protects your wallet keys, while the purchase itself is an external service outside the BitBox security threat model.
Before you begin
- Make sure your BitBox02 is set up and your wallet backup is complete. If you are setting up a new wallet, follow Set up your BitBox02 with a microSD card backup first.
- Use the current stable BitBoxApp. If needed, follow Update the BitBoxApp. If the app offers a device update, update the BitBox02 firmware before continuing.
- Have access to the email address, personal details, identity document and payment method you want to use with BTC Direct.
BTC Direct availability depends on your region and the account you select. The purchase flow offers cryptocurrencies supported by both BTC Direct and the BitBoxApp. For general wallet compatibility, see Which coins does BitBox support?
Buy cryptocurrency with BTC Direct
Follow the stages below in order. If you already have a BTC Direct account, sign in when prompted and complete only the account or verification checks BTC Direct requests. Once your account is ready, continue to the order review in stage 7.
1. Open BTC Direct in the BitBoxApp
Open the BitBoxApp, connect your BitBox02 and unlock it. In the left sidebar, select Marketplace, then open the Buy tab.
Under Region, choose the region where your bank account is registered. Under Account, select the wallet account where you want to receive the purchase. This account determines the cryptocurrency and receiving address supplied automatically to BTC Direct.
Select BTC Direct from the available buy services. If it is not listed, check your region and selected account; the integration may not be available for that combination.

If the BTC Direct information screen appears, review its payment, security and privacy information, then select Agree and continue. The BTC Direct widget opens inside the BitBoxApp.
2. Set up your BTC Direct order
Choose One time for a single purchase, or Recurring if you want recurring purchases and that option is available. The screenshots below show a one-time purchase; for a recurring purchase, also follow any additional setup instructions in the BTC Direct widget.
The minimum purchase amount is €30. Enter the amount you want to spend, at least €30, in the You pay field. The You get field shows the estimated cryptocurrency amount for your order.

Open Select payment method and choose the method you want to use from the available options. The widget updates your order to reflect that choice.

Review the estimated cryptocurrency amount and Total amount. Expand Show fees to check the payment method fee, network fee and processing fee. When you are ready to proceed, select Continue.

Use the amounts and fees displayed for your own order; the screenshots illustrate the controls. For bank transfers, BTC Direct fixes the exchange rate when it receives the money. Instant payment methods use a rate valid for a limited time, so review the current figures again before confirming the order.
3. Create or sign in to a BTC Direct account
A BTC Direct account is required to complete a purchase. If you already have one, select Sign in and follow the sign-in prompts. If your account is complete and no further verification is requested, continue to stage 7: confirm the order.

If this is your first purchase with BTC Direct, select Create new account. Choose Personal or Business as appropriate and enter the requested registration details. For a personal account, these include your first name, last name, email address and nationality, together with a password for your BTC Direct account.
Review BTC Direct's terms and conditions and privacy policy. If you agree, accept them and select Create account. BTC Direct creates your account and asks you to verify your email address.

4. Verify your email address
When BTC Direct asks you to verify your email, open the inbox for the address you used to register. Copy the six-digit code from the BTC Direct email, enter it in the widget's Email verification screen and select Confirm email address.

Once the code is accepted, continue with the account details BTC Direct requests. If the email does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder, or select Send again in the widget to request a new code.
5. Complete your BTC Direct account
After email verification, BTC Direct may ask for additional account information. On the Complete your account screen, enter your residential address in the Street name, House number, Postal code and City fields.
Check the details, then select Continue to proceed to the next stage requested by BTC Direct.

6. Complete BTC Direct identity verification
If BTC Direct requests identity verification, select Continue on the Verification for BTC Direct screen. Follow its prompts to provide the requested identity information, including photographs of your official identity document and a selfie when requested.

BTC Direct and its verification provider handle these checks; BitBox does not perform or approve the identity verification. While the widget shows Verifying your ID, wait for the result before continuing.

When Verification successful! appears, select Trade now to return to the purchase flow. If verification fails or you cannot proceed, contact BTC Direct through its support center.

Never share your wallet secrets
Identity verification does not require your recovery words, private keys, BitBox device password, optional passphrase or wallet backup. Never enter these into a provider widget, website or support conversation. Stop if anyone asks for them.
7. Confirm the order
Once your BTC Direct account is ready, return to the order review. Check the cryptocurrency, estimated cryptocurrency amount, amount in euros, payment method and fees again. The figures may have changed while you completed account setup or verification.
If the details match your intended purchase, select Confirm order. BTC Direct opens the payment stage for the method you selected.

8. Complete the payment
Review the payment summary, including the cryptocurrency, amount, payment method and receiving address supplied by the BitBoxApp. Complete the payment through the selected payment provider or banking flow before the order expires.
Follow the payment instructions displayed by BTC Direct, including any required amount and payment reference. If you cannot complete payment or the order expires, return to BTC Direct for the next action.

After payment is confirmed, BTC Direct sends an order confirmation email with details such as your order ID, purchase amount, cryptocurrency, blockchain and destination address. Keep the order ID for any purchase questions.
Check that your cryptocurrency arrived
Once BTC Direct receives and processes your payment, it sends the purchased cryptocurrency to the receiving address for the account you selected in the BitBoxApp. Payment confirmation and cryptocurrency delivery are separate stages.
Open the selected account in the BitBoxApp and let it synchronize. Check its transaction history for the incoming payment and compare the cryptocurrency and amount with BTC Direct's completed order details. The transaction may initially appear as pending while it gains network confirmations.
Processing time depends on the payment method, BTC Direct's checks and blockchain activity. After completing the payment flow and receiving BTC Direct's confirmation, you can close the BitBoxApp while the purchase is processed. Your BitBox02 does not need to remain connected for the cryptocurrency to arrive.
Get help with a purchase
For account creation, identity verification, payment or cryptocurrency payout questions, use the BTC Direct support center. Include your order ID and describe where you are stuck. If you have paid but nothing has arrived, ask whether BTC Direct has sent the cryptocurrency and request the transaction ID if available. Do not make another payment simply because the first is delayed.
If BTC Direct confirms that it has sent the cryptocurrency but the payment still does not appear after the BitBoxApp synchronizes, contact BitBox Support. Include your BitBoxApp version, the cryptocurrency, any displayed error and the public transaction ID if available. Do not send wallet secrets or identity documents.
