The BitBoxApp shows a dedicated transaction overview for each account. There, you can review all past transactions of the selected account and quickly search for specific entries.

This article explains how to view your transaction history, understand the information shown in the transaction overview, and use the search function in the BitBoxApp.

How to view your transaction history in the BitBoxApp

The transaction history is always displayed per account. If you use multiple accounts in the BitBoxApp, each account has its own separate transaction overview.

  1. Open the BitBoxApp.
  2. Connect your BitBox02 and unlock your wallet.
If you use the watch-only feature, you can also view your transaction history without connecting your device.
  3. Select the account you want to view from the left sidebar.
  4. Scroll down in the account overview below the account balance.
  5. There you will find the complete transaction history for the selected account.

Account-specific transaction history
The BitBoxApp always displays the transaction history for the currently selected account. If you cannot find a transaction, first make sure that you selected the correct account.

What you can see in the transaction overview

The transaction overview gives you a quick summary of each transaction in the selected account. Depending on the transaction type, you may see different labels and amounts.

You may see information such as:

  • whether a transaction was sent, received, or sent to yourself
  • the transaction amount in BTC, sat, or another supported unit
  • the fiat value at the time of the transaction
  • the date of the transaction
  • the transaction status if it is still pending or confirming
  • the associated address
  • personal notes you added to the transaction

Depending on the transaction, the overview may show one of the following labels:

  • Sent amount to self: Funds were sent from your wallet to another address that also belongs to your wallet.
  • Sent to: Funds were sent from your wallet to an external address.
  • Received to: Funds were received to one of your wallet addresses.

For outgoing transactions, the displayed amount already includes the paid network fee. The fee is therefore not shown separately in the transaction overview amount.

For transactions sent to yourself, the transaction overview typically shows the amount moved between your own addresses and the paid network fee. Since the funds remain in your wallet, the main balance change is usually the paid network fee.

To view additional information about a transaction, click the magnifying glass icon next to the transaction entry.

How to search transactions in the BitBoxApp

As your transaction history grows, the search bar helps you quickly find specific transactions.

  1. Open the BitBoxApp.
  2. Select the account from the left sidebar.
  3. Open the transaction overview.
  4. Click the search bar.
  5. Enter your search term.

You can search for information such as:

  • Address: useful when checking a specific receiving or sending address
  • Transaction ID: useful when searching for a specific blockchain transaction
  • Transaction note: useful when searching through your own labels or keywords

You do not always need to enter the full address or transaction ID. In many cases, entering only the first or last characters is enough.

Searching transaction notes
If you use personal notes or wallet labels, you can search them directly through the transaction search bar. This makes it easier to find payments later based on projects, people, bookkeeping categories, or custom keywords.

How to use notes for transactions

You can attach personal notes to transactions to make them easier to identify later. In the BitBoxApp, these notes are called Wallet Labels and follow the BIP-329 standard.

Transaction notes can be useful for:

  • personal bookkeeping
  • tax preparation
  • organizing payments
  • customer or project references
  • finding transactions more easily later
