This guide will walk you through the process of securely receiving Ethereum (ETH) and various ERC20 tokens to your BitBox02 using the BitBoxApp. The process is the same for both ETH and all compatible tokens.
Before you start
- Make sure the BitBoxApp is installed and your BitBox02 is set up.
- Ensure your desired Ethereum account is enabled. You can learn how to add and manage accounts here: How to create and manage multiple accounts on your BitBox02
How to receive ETH and ERC20 tokens
- Open the BitBoxApp and unlock your BitBox02.
- Select your Ethereum account from the list on the left-hand side.

- Click the Receive button in the main account window.

- A window titled "Receive Ethereum" will open, prompting you to verify the address on your device.

- Click the Verify address on BitBox button. The QR code for your address will only become visible after this step.
- Your BitBox02 will now display your unique Ethereum receiving address. Carefully compare the address shown on the device screen with the one shown in the BitBoxApp.
- If the addresses match, confirm on your BitBox02.
- The BitBoxApp will now show your verified address and the corresponding QR code. You can safely copy this address or use the QR code to receive funds.

Understanding your Ethereum address
- An Ethereum account in the BitBoxApp uses a single, reusable receiving address.
- For maximum security, you should verify this address on your BitBox02 the first time you use it. Afterwards, you can continue to use the same address for future transactions to that account.
- All supported ERC20 tokens are sent to this same Ethereum address. There are no separate addresses for different tokens.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need a different address for each ERC20 token?
No. Your single Ethereum address is used to receive both ETH and all supported ERC20 tokens linked to that account.
Which ERC20 tokens are supported?
The BitBoxApp supports many popular ERC20 tokens. For a complete and updated list, please see our guide here: How to show supported ERC20 tokens in the BitBoxApp
Why isn't the QR code visible immediately?
For your security, the BitBoxApp only shows the full address and QR code after you have confirmed it on your BitBox02. This ensures you are not sending funds to a malicious address that could have been displayed on a compromised computer.
Why do I see a generic QR code icon before I verify the address?
What you see initially is a generic placeholder icon, not the specific QR code for your address. The real, scannable QR code for your address will only be displayed after you click Verify address on BitBox and successfully confirm it on your device.
