This guide explains how to receive Ethereum (ETH) and ERC-20 tokens using your BitBox02 with MyEtherWallet (MEW).

The most important step when receiving funds is verifying your address on your BitBox02 device. This protects you from malware that could alter addresses on your computer.

Before you begin

Make sure:

  • Your BitBox02 is already connected to MEW
  • You can see your wallet dashboard

If you have not connected your device yet, follow this guide first:
→ How to connect your BitBox02 to MyEtherWallet

How to receive ETH and ERC-20 tokens

Follow these steps to safely receive funds:

1. Locate your receiving address

  • On the MEW dashboard, find your wallet address (top left)
  • You can:
    • Copy the address
    • Display the QR code

2. Open the address verification menu

  • Click the small arrow icon next to your address
  • Select View address on BitBox02

3. Verify the address on your BitBox02

Your full address will now appear on your BitBox02 display.

  • Carefully compare:
    • The address shown in MEW
    • The address shown on your BitBox02

Only trust the address shown on your BitBox02.
If the address on your computer differs, do not proceed.

4. Share your address

Once verified, you can safely:

  • Paste the address into the sending wallet or exchange
  • Share the QR code

5. Wait for the transaction

  • The sender initiates the transaction
  • After confirmation on the blockchain, your funds will appear in MEW

Important security principle

Never skip address verification on your BitBox02.
Malware can change addresses on your computer without you noticing.

Additional notes

  • Your Ethereum address can be reused multiple times
  • You do not need your BitBox02 connected to receive funds
  • Your funds will appear the next time you connect and unlock your BitBox02

Your Ethereum address works across all EVM networks (e.g., Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Smart Chain).
If you do not see your funds, make sure the correct network is selected in MEW.

Result

You have successfully received ETH or tokens using your BitBox02 with MyEtherWallet.

FAQ

Do I need to connect my BitBox02 to receive funds?

No.
Your address exists independently of the device. You only need to connect it later to view and manage your funds.

Why is address verification necessary?

Because your computer can be compromised.
The BitBox02 ensures the address is correct and has not been modified.

Can I reuse the same address?

Yes.
However, for privacy reasons, generating new addresses is generally recommended.

What happens if I send funds to an unverified address?

If the address was modified by malware, funds may be permanently lost.
Always verify on the BitBox02 before using an address.

When will I see my funds?

After the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain.
You will see the balance when MEW updates or when you reconnect your BitBox02.

Can I receive tokens from other EVM networks?

Yes.
The same address can be used across EVM-compatible networks (e.g., Polygon, BNB Smart Chain), but you must select the correct network in MEW to see them.
