How to reset your BitBox02

There are two ways to perform a factory reset on your BitBox02.

Method 1: Reset with incorrect password attempts

This method does not require access to the BitBoxApp settings and is a security feature to protect your device.

1. Connect your BitBox02 to your computer.
2. When the BitBoxApp prompts you for your password, deliberately enter the wrong password 10 times.
3. After the tenth incorrect attempt, the BitBox02 will automatically reset itself to factory settings.

Method 2: Reset using the BitBoxApp

This method allows you to initiate the reset from the BitBoxApp menu.

1. Open the BitBoxApp and connect your BitBox02.
2. Unlock the device with your current password.
3. In the left sidebar, click on Settings.

4. Go to the Manage device tab.

5. Scroll to the bottom to find the Expert settings section.
6. Click on Factory reset, which is the last option in the list.

7. A confirmation window will appear with the warning: “All data will be deleted from this device. That includes your Private Key!”
8. Confirm you have a backup by checking the box next to "I have a valid backup".
9. Click the red Factory reset device button.

10. Follow the final confirmation instructions on your BitBox02 screen to complete the process.
