A Bitcoin transaction is shown as Pending in the BitBoxApp until it has six confirmations. It may still be waiting for its first confirmation, or it may already be included in a block and progressing from one to six confirmations. Pending does not necessarily mean that the transaction has failed.

If the transaction uses Ethereum or another EVM-compatible network, follow Ethereum transaction is stuck or pending instead. Confirmation rules and resolution steps differ by network.

Check the confirmation counter

  1. Open the relevant Bitcoin account in the BitBoxApp.
  2. Select the pending transaction.
  3. Check the number of confirmations in the transaction details.
  4. Use the block-explorer link in the transaction details if you want to inspect the transaction on the Bitcoin network.

A block explorer is a third-party service. It can display public transaction data, but it cannot access your wallet or change the transaction. Never enter your wallet password, recovery words, or private keys into a block explorer.

If the transaction has one to five confirmations

The transaction is already included in a Bitcoin block. No corrective action is normally needed. Wait for the BitBoxApp counter to reach six confirmations, at which point the transaction status changes from Pending to Complete.

If the transaction has no confirmations

The transaction has not yet been included in a Bitcoin block. The time until the first confirmation depends mainly on current network demand and the fee rate attached to the transaction. Fee estimates are not guarantees.

Do not send the payment again yet

If the original transaction is only delayed, both payments could eventually confirm. Check the original transaction before creating another payment.

  • If you are receiving bitcoin: Ask the sender to check the transaction. Only the sender can decide whether to use an available fee-bump method.
  • If you sent the transaction and it is visible in the block explorer: You can wait for network conditions to change. If the payment is urgent, follow How to speed up a stuck Bitcoin transaction with Sparrow and BitBox02.
  • If the block explorer cannot find the transaction: Refresh the transaction details and check the transaction ID again. If it remains absent, contact BitBox Support before sending again.

For an explanation of fee rates and changing network demand, read What are blockchain network fees?. To learn how to interpret public transaction information, see How to use a block explorer.

When to contact BitBox Support

Contact BitBox Support if the transaction remains absent from the block explorer, if the BitBoxApp and the explorer show conflicting information after a refresh, or if you are unsure whether it is safe to send again.

Include the Bitcoin transaction ID, whether you sent or received the transaction, your BitBoxApp version, and screenshots that do not contain sensitive wallet information. Use the official BitBox contact form.
