This guide shows you how to connect your BitBox hardware wallet to the Rabby browser extension.
By connecting your BitBox, you can safely interact with decentralized applications (DApps) on Ethereum and other EVM-compatible chains. Your private keys always remain secure and offline on your BitBox.
Before you start
To ensure a secure and successful connection between your BitBox02 hardware wallet and the Rabby browser extension, please have the following ready:
- A BitBox Multi edition.
- Your BitBoxApp & BitBox is already set up with a wallet and backup.
- An installed version of Google Chrome or Brave browser. Rabby Wallet's primary support is for these two browsers, making one of them necessary for this process.
Note on BitBox Bridge: While not mandatory for connecting your BitBox to Rabby on Chrome or Brave, the BitBoxBridge is recommended. Should you encounter any connection issues during the setup or use of Rabby Wallet, installing the BitBoxBridge can often resolve these problems.
Connect your BitBox to Rabby
Follow these steps to set up the connection.
Step 1: Install and open Rabby
- Go to the Chrome Web Store and install Rabby Wallet.
- Open the extension from your browser’s toolbar and click I already have an address.

Step 2: Select BitBox as your wallet
- Rabby will show you a list of import methods. Click the More button at the bottom.

- Select BitBox from the list of hardware wallets.

Step 3: Connect and unlock your BitBox
- Set a local password for the Rabby extension and click Confirm. This password only protects the extension, not your hardware wallet.

- On the "Connect BitBox" screen, plug your BitBox into your computer.
Remember, the BitBoxApp must be closed.

- Select the screen orientation on your BitBox02 device.
- Click the Connect BitBox button in your browser.
- Enter your device password on your BitBox to unlock it.
Step 4: Pair Rabby with your BitBox
- A unique pairing code will appear on your BitBox screen and in a new window in your browser.
- Carefully compare both codes.
- If they match exactly, confirm the pairing on your BitBox device.

Step 5: Finalize the setup
- The "Imported Successfully" screen will appear. You can give your wallet a custom name by clicking the pencil icon.
- Your primary Ethereum (EVM) address will be displayed. This is the same address as your first ETH account in the BitBoxApp.
- Click Get Started, and then click Done.

Your BitBox is now connected to Rabby. You can view your assets in Rabby at any time. You will only need to connect your BitBox to approve and sign transactions.
