Why the BitBox02 Nova is needed for iOS
Connecting a BitBox02 directly to an iPhone or iPad is not possible due to Apple's restrictions on the USB-C port. The BitBox02 Nova, which you can learn about in our official announcement, solves this problem using a secure Bluetooth® connection.

Can I use a BitBox02 with the iOS app?
Unfortunately, a BitBox02 hardware wallet cannot be upgraded to work with the iOS BitBoxApp. The secure Bluetooth® functionality requires specific hardware components that are only built into the BitBox02 Nova model.
Your existing BitBox02 remains fully secure and will continue to receive updates. You can still use it with the desktop BitBoxApp on Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as with the official Android app.
Connect your BitBox02 Nova to the iOS app
Getting started with your BitBox02 Nova and iPhone is easy. Before you begin, make sure you have your BitBox02 Nova device handy.
- On your iPhone or iPad, go to the Apple App Store and download the official BitBoxApp.
- Open the BitBoxApp on your iOS device.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to power on your BitBox02 Nova and securely pair it with your phone.
Once pairing is complete, you can set up a new wallet or restore an existing one. You are now ready to securely manage your cryptocurrencies on the go.
