If you're running into issues trying to sell bitcoin in the BitBoxApp through our partner Pocket Bitcoin, there are mainly three likely causes for this.

Unlock selling

In order to unlock the ability to sell bitcoin with Pocket Bitcoin, you must have purchased bitcoin with the service at least once in the past. Simply use the same email address and bank account like you did when purchasing.

Supported regions

Pocket Bitcoin is currently available to users from the European Union (EU) and Switzerland. If you're outside of this region, buying or selling bitcoin with Pocket Bitcoin is not available for you. You can still buy bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies using our partner MoonPay in the BitBoxApp. 

Insufficient funds

Of course, you cannot sell any bitcoin you don't actually own on your BitBox02. If you get an error message saying you have insufficient funds to create the sale request, make sure…

  • You selected the correct account at the beginning
  • The amount you want to sell is not too close to (or exceeds) your account balance, as you still have to pay a transaction fee to send your bitcoin to Pocket.
