The BitBoxApp's Ethereum account sequence uses m/44'/60'/0'/0/n. The final index, n, starts at zero: the first account ends in /0, the second in /1 and the third in /2.
What each component means
For the first account, the complete path is m/44'/60'/0'/0/0:
| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
m |
The wallet's master key, where derivation starts. |
44' |
The BIP44 purpose. |
60' |
The coin type for Ethereum. |
0' |
The hardened BIP44 account level, fixed at zero for this BitBoxApp sequence. |
0 |
The fixed external-chain level. |
The final 0
|
The address index. The BitBoxApp increments this level for additional Ethereum accounts. |
The apostrophe marks a hardened derivation step. Adding another Ethereum account in the BitBoxApp changes the final address index, not the earlier hardened 0'. Other applications may number their accounts using a different path sequence, so matching the label “Account 2” is not enough.
Find the path for your account
Open the intended account's details and read Keypath, following the account-details guide. The path describes how a key is derived; it is not an Ethereum receiving address. To receive funds, use that account's Receive screen and verify the receiving address on your BitBox.
The same path in a different wallet can produce a different address, including when a different optional passphrase is used. Connect the intended wallet through the external application's hardware-wallet flow; never supply recovery words, private keys or an optional passphrase to an import form. For the other fields, including token contract addresses, see the account-details explanation.
