In the BitBoxApp, select an account, open Account info and choose View account details. The later sections cover choosing a Bitcoin format, comparing an available extended public key on your BitBox and copying public account information.

For the meaning and purpose of each field, see What account details mean in the BitBoxApp.

Before you begin

Open an up-to-date BitBoxApp with the intended wallet available. If it is not available through Remember wallet, connect and unlock the BitBox containing it. A remembered wallet lets you view account details without the hardware connected. Comparing a key on the BitBox still requires it to be connected and unlocked.

Open account details

  1. Select the account you want to inspect. Its balance and transaction history open.

  1. Select Account info at the top of the account view. The Account information menu opens.

Account information screen with the View account details option.

  1. Select View account details. Check Account name, where shown, against the account you selected. For a token, check Token and the account you selected.

Example Native SegWit account details showing the script type, extended public key, descriptor and Verify on device button.

You are now viewing that account's details. If you only needed to look up a field, you are finished. The following sections concern Bitcoin public account information; Ethereum and token details do not have these Bitcoin exports or the Native SegWit/Taproot selector.

Select the Bitcoin format you need

Before using Bitcoin information in another wallet, check both the account and Script type. Native SegWit and Taproot have separate keypaths and exports, even when they appear under one account.

If the account offers both formats, use the control near the top of its details. Select View Taproot to show Taproot (P2TR); the keypath and descriptor change. Select View Native Segwit to return to Native SegWit (P2WPKH). Check Script type rather than assuming which format opens first. Switching this view does not move or convert funds.

Taproot account details with a descriptor and its QR code, plus View Native Segwit to switch back; no separate extended-public-key field or verification button is shown.

Taproot provides a Descriptor without a separate Extended public key field or its verification button. Continue with copying if you need that descriptor; the key-comparison procedure below applies only where the separate key and button are available.

Verify an extended public key on your BitBox

If the selected format shows Extended public key and Verify on device, compare the key on your BitBox before relying on it for a new setup. This checks the key, not the complete descriptor or every field.

  1. Connect and unlock the BitBox containing the intended wallet. In the BitBoxApp, keep the account details open and select the required Bitcoin format.
  2. Select Verify on device below the account data, scrolling down if needed. Your BitBox displays the extended public key for comparison.
  3. Compare the entire key on the BitBox with Extended public key in the app. Follow the device prompts and confirm there only if every character matches. If anything differs, cancel and do not use that export.

A full match confirms that the app's key agrees with the value displayed by your BitBox. If it does not match, recheck the wallet, account and format. If the difference remains, stop and contact BitBox Support with your app version and where the comparison failed. Never share recovery words, private keys, passwords, passphrases or wallet backups.

Copy a Bitcoin extended public key or descriptor

Use the complete Descriptor when the receiving software supports it. Use the separate Extended public key when that software requests it and supports the selected format. If a tool requests a Taproot key but cannot import the descriptor, check its import documentation rather than extracting a key and guessing the settings.

Share only with software you trust with your account history

Extended public keys, public descriptors and their QR codes can reveal the addresses and financial activity they describe, including future activity. They do not provide spending access or replace a wallet backup. Keep recovery words, private keys, your BitBox password, optional passphrase and wallet backups out of public-account import fields.

  1. In the account details, recheck the selected account and Script type. For a separate extended public key, complete the available device comparison above.
  2. Find the Descriptor or Extended public key field you need. Select the copy icon, shown as two overlapping sheets at the right-hand end of its box. The icon briefly becomes a check mark, indicating the copy action. Alternatively, scan the QR code bearing the same field label with compatible software.
  3. If you copied the value, paste it into that software's corresponding import field. Keep the entire value; a descriptor includes an ending checksum. If the tool rejects it, stop and check the expected format instead of removing parts or supplying wallet secrets.

Copying or scanning transfers the public value. The receiving software must also accept the import and finish loading account activity. Check that it shows the intended account and format before relying on it; importing Native SegWit information does not include Taproot activity. If it shows unexpected addresses or a balance you cannot explain, use the Bitcoin account-matching checks.

Looking for an older Wrapped SegWit account?

The BitBoxApp hides Wrapped SegWit details, so that format is not offered here. This does not remove its existing activity. For help accessing an older account with compatible wallet software, contact BitBox Support; do not substitute another format's export.
