You can pay for a BitBox shop order with Bitcoin or Lightning, or through Stripe using a credit or debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer, or a regional payment method such as TWINT or Klarna. The options shown at checkout depend on your location and eligibility; a VPN, Tor, or a connection from another country can change which methods appear.
If you have not reached checkout yet, follow How to order BitBox products from the official shop.
Choose your payment method
After reviewing your order summary in the BitBox shop, select Proceed to payment. On the payment page, choose an available payment option, accept the required terms and policies, and select Proceed to payment again to open the payment instructions.
Choose the route that suits your order:
- Bitcoin or Lightning: pay through BTCPay and receive a 2% discount.
- Card, PayPal, or another Stripe payment method: choose from the eligible options shown on the Stripe checkout page. These payments are usually processed promptly.
- Bank transfer: pay in EUR using the details provided by Stripe. Allow 2–5 business days for processing.
Choosing a payment method creates an order, but the order confirmation email does not confirm that payment has been received. A separate payment confirmation email confirms that your payment has been processed and assigned to your order.
Stripe payment methods and availability by country
Stripe processes card payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfers, and regional payment methods for the BitBox shop. Depending on your country, payment currency, and eligibility, its checkout page may show:
- Credit and debit cards
- PayPal
- Apple Pay or Google Pay, when your device, browser, and configured wallet support them
- TWINT for eligible customers in Switzerland paying in CHF
- Klarna, where available for your order
- Other regional methods, such as iDEAL, Bancontact, Alipay, or WeChat Pay
This is not a guarantee that every method will appear for every order. Use the options shown in your checkout and review the provider’s payment terms before confirming. See the BitBox payment policy for payment conditions and possible fees charged by your bank or payment provider.
Why is TWINT or another payment method missing?
The country detected from your internet connection affects which regional payment methods appear. If you use a VPN or Tor, the checkout may detect the country of the VPN server or Tor exit node instead of your actual location. Connecting while abroad can also show a different selection from the one you see at home.
For example, TWINT may not appear if your connection is detected outside Switzerland. Location is only one factor: the currency and other eligibility requirements also matter. A different connection therefore does not guarantee that a particular method will become available.
If your preferred method is missing, choose another available option. If you need help before paying, contact BitBox Support using the details listed at the end of this article.
Pay with Bitcoin or Lightning
The Bitcoin payment option opens the BTCPay payment page with the Bitcoin address, QR code, and exact BTC amount. You can also switch to Lightning on that page. Use the payment instructions for your order and check the destination, amount, and network before authorizing payment in your wallet.
Both Bitcoin and Lightning payments qualify for the 2% discount. Their confirmation timing can differ, so use the payment confirmation email to verify that the payment has been assigned to your order.
Pay by bank transfer in EUR
When you choose bank transfer, Stripe provides the bank details and payment instructions for your order. Follow those instructions and transfer the requested amount in EUR. Use the account details shown for your order rather than assuming that a particular bank or account is always used.
Bank transfers typically take 2–5 business days to process. You may receive an automated payment reminder during that time. If you have already sent the transfer as instructed, do not pay again just because a reminder arrives; wait for processing and check for the payment confirmation.
Confirm your payment and follow your order
Your order confirmation email contains your order ID, order details, and total amount. Once payment has been processed and assigned to the order, you receive a separate payment confirmation email with your invoice. This is the confirmation that your order can proceed to processing and shipping preparation. You will receive another update when it ships.
If a bank transfer remains unconfirmed after five business days, or another payment shows an error or an uncertain result, check with Support before making another payment.
Can I change my payment method after placing an order?
The payment method cannot be changed once the order has been created. To use a different method, you need to place a new order. If you have already paid or are unsure whether the first payment succeeded, contact Support before placing and paying for another order.
Contact BitBox Support with your order ID if you have one, the payment method, and any error message. For a missing payment option, also include the country you are connecting from and whether you use a VPN or Tor. Do not include card details, passwords, authentication codes, or wallet secrets.
