Learn how to install the BitBoxApp on Windows using the official Windows installer.


Before you begin

Before installing the BitBoxApp on Windows:

  • Use a supported Windows version. Check the BitBoxApp operating system compatibility article before installing the BitBoxApp on Windows.
  • Download the BitBoxApp only from the official BitBoxApp download page.
  • Make sure you have permission to install software on your Windows computer.
  • You do not need to connect your BitBox during installation.
  • You do not need your microSD backup or recovery words to install the BitBoxApp.

The BitBoxApp will never ask for your recovery words during installation. Never enter your recovery words into a computer, smartphone, website, browser extension, password manager, cloud service, or AI chatbot.


Install the BitBoxApp on Windows

  1. Download the latest Windows installer from the official BitBoxApp download page.
  2. Open the downloaded .exe installer.
  3. If Windows asks whether you want to allow the installer to make changes to your device, select Yes.
  4. Follow the installation steps shown on screen.
  5. Open the BitBoxApp after the installation is complete.
  6. Connect and unlock your BitBox if you want to start using your wallet.

Result:

The BitBoxApp is installed on your Windows computer.

If the BitBoxApp is already installed, running the latest Windows installer updates the existing installation.


Verify the BitBoxApp download

Only install the BitBoxApp from the official BitBoxApp download page.

Update BitBox firmware after installing the BitBoxApp

Installing the BitBoxApp and updating BitBox firmware are separate processes.

If a newer firmware version is available for your BitBox, the BitBoxApp will guide you through the firmware update after you connect and unlock your BitBox.
