The BitBoxBridge is a small background application that lets your BitBox02 communicate securely with third-party web wallets. It acts as a secure link, ensuring your private keys never leave the hardware wallet while you interact with web-based crypto services.
Why do I need the BitBoxBridge?
The BitBoxBridge is essential for using your BitBox02 with browser-based wallets and extensions. It creates a stable and secure communication channel, which is why we recommend it for all web wallet connections, even on browsers like Chrome or Brave.
Once installed, it runs automatically in the background, allowing you to connect your BitBox02 directly within supported web wallets.
Supported web wallets
You can use the BitBoxBridge to connect to a growing number of third-party services. Each wallet supports different crypto assets.
- Rabby Wallet: For Ethereum and all EVM-compatible networks (e.g., Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, etc.).
- MyEtherWallet: Primarily for Ethereum, ERC-20 tokens, and NFTs, but also supports other networks like Bitcoin, Polygon, BNB Smart Chain, and Polkadot.
- NuFi: A multi-chain wallet supporting assets on Cardano, Ethereum (and EVM chains).
- AdaLite: A lightweight web wallet specifically for Cardano (ADA) and its native tokens.
- Bity: A Swiss crypto broker for buying, selling, and exchanging cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need to open the BitBoxBridge myself?
No. After you install it, the BitBoxBridge will start automatically and run in the background whenever your computer is on. You do not need to open or interact with it.
Should I keep the BitBoxApp open when using a web wallet?
No, you must close the BitBoxApp completely before connecting to a web wallet. The BitBox02 can only connect to one application at a time, so having the BitBoxApp open will prevent the web wallet from detecting your device.
How can I check if the BitBoxBridge is working correctly?
You can easily verify if the bridge is running. Open your web browser and navigate tohttp://localhost:8178
or http://127.0.0.1:8178
. If it is working, you will see a page with the text "BitBoxBridge is running".
