Important notes

⚠️ Privacy

  • The exported file contains sensitive metadata.
  • It includes Extended Public Keys (xpubs) and transaction IDs (hashes) for all accounts and transactions that have custom names or notes.
  • Treat this file as confidential and store it securely.

ℹ️ Backup strategy & Interoperability

  • Add regular label exports to your backup routine.
  • Labels are not part of your recovery words or microSD backup.
  • The BIP-329 format allows you to transfer your labels to any wallet that supports the standard.

Success

Your account names and transaction notes are now restored and visible in the BitBoxApp.

Where are the local note files stored?

The BitBoxApp also stores note files locally on your computer.

On your desktop device, navigate to:

BitBox folder → Notes

There you will find .json files representing notes for each account in plain text format.

⚠️ Warning

  • These local .json files are not importable.
  • Only .jsonl files created via the Export notes function can be imported.

FAQ

Are labels included in my recovery words or microSD backup?

No. Labels (account names and transaction notes) are not part of your wallet backup. You must export them separately.

Is the export file safe to share?

No. The file contains sensitive metadata such as extended public keys and transaction history references. Never share it publicly.

Can I import labels into another wallet?

Yes — if the wallet supports the BIP-329 standard.

What happens if I lose my label file?

Your funds remain safe. However, your custom account names and transaction notes cannot be restored without a backup of the exported .jsonl file.
